Evelyn Christman LeGros James

May 2, 1934 — July 20, 2022

Evelyn Christman LeGros James died peacefully in her sleep on July 20th 2022 at her apartment in Coppell Texas. Eve was born on May 2, 1934 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Dr. Ralph James Christman and Evelyn Hickman Christman. She attended Newman High School in New Orleans, LSU, and obtained her degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches in 1993. Eve is survived by four children, Gary F. LeGros, Jr. (Susan), Clay Justin LeGros (Elizabeth), Mark Christman LeGros (Rhonda), and Evelyn LeGros Miller (Kenny); nine grandchildren, Gary F. (Geoff)LeGros, III, Katherine Pearson LeGros, Ashley Elizabeth LeGros, Elizabeth Jane LeGros, Dr. Clay Justin LeGros, Jr. (Teresa), Mark Christman LeGros, Jr., Renee Marie LeGros, Kenneth Ray Miller, III (Brittney), and Evelyn Shannon Miller; two great grandsons, Fisher Potts LeGros and Rowan Bennett LeGros. Eve was the widow of McCauley Mercer (Mac) James and had three surviving step-children, McCauley (Mackie) Mercer James, Jr., Doris Elise James and Nancy Gail James. Eve was preceded in death by her parents, brother (Ralph James Christman, Jr.), husband, and two step-children, William Henry (Will) James and David Malcolm James. Teke, as she was known to her grandchildren, was both a devout Catholic and afree spirit whose life revolved around the church, her friends and her family. She was unafraid to speak her mind, but at the same time, everyone who met her came away touched by her love and caring. Teke cherished her time with family and friends and also enjoyed an occasional Bourbon. Teke was known as the traveling grandmother by her grandchildren as she seemed to be always on the road going to an event or traveling to various pilgrimage sites across the world. God blessed Teke with good health until shortly before her death; and her peaceful passing was indeed, the last great gift given her by God in this world. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Holy Cross Church, 129 Second Street, Natchitoches, LA.
