Lessey "Nan" Clifton Johnson

December 30, 1920 — April 27, 2013

Mrs. Lessey B. “Nan” Clifton Johnson, 92, passed away on April 27, 2013. Visitation and services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, Louisiana with interment at Pine Ridge Cemetery near Readheimer, LA . She was born on December 30, 1920 in Goldonna, LA in Winn Parish. She was a graduate of Goldonna High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Courtney William “Father Boy” Johnson, a WWII Veteran; her parents Gertha McGee and Edd Clifton of Goldonna, LA and her siblings, Harrison Clifton, Houston Clifton, Carolyn Boyett Clifton and Edwin Clifton. She is survived by her three children, Gene “Smokey” Johnson of Bossier City, LA; Carole Pennycook and Don Johnson of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Courtney Johnson, Beau Johnson, Leslie Pennycook Ness and husband Peter, and Diana Pennycook; great-grandchildren Izabella Johnson, John Ness and Isla Ness; and her long term caretaker and “angel”, Stella Enriquez. She held her long-time employer, Ronald Hermann, dear to her heart and would consider him an extended family member. Lessey loved all with whom she came into contact and that love was mutual; she was a loving, compassionate and giving person. Her passions in life included her family, gardening, travel, exercise, and the San Antonio Spurs. Her caretakers turned the Spurs’ games on, even in her last weeks of life, for her to hear the games! She became involved with Volksmarch groups in the San Antonio area and that involvement led her to travel to all 50 states to earn designated Volksmarch recognition; she received a commemorative citation upon completion of the 50th state, her birth state of Louisiana, signed by then President Richard Nixon.
