Zane Arlin Adams, Sr., affectionately known by many as "Butchy", was born on February 26, 1948, in Berwick, Louisiana and passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, in Marthaville, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family. He faced a courageous six-year battle with cancer, but we are now assured that he is not struggling anymore in his eternal home in heaven.
Zane was the owner of Metal Works, where his work ethic and dedication made him an excellent provider for his family. He was known for his dry sense of humor, often brightening the day of those around him with playful teasing. Those who knew him well understood that if he was “picking” on you, it was a sure sign of his affection. Above all, Zane dearly loved his family, and his presence will be profoundly missed.
In his younger years, he found joy in hunting, fishing, and trapping, and was relentless in his pursuits—no animal was safe from his adventurous spirit. Later in life, Zane took solace in watching Jimmy Swaggart, especially during times when his health prevented him from attending his church home.
Zane is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Julia Locke Adams. He was a proud father to his sons, Zane Adams, Jr. and wife Ashley, David Adams and wife Kate, Phillip Adams and wife Fangyi, Amos Adams, and Jacob Adams and wife Rachel. Zane also had his cherished daughters, Lindie Pittman and husband Lloyd, Erin Toups and husband Perry, and Melissa Seely and husband Gerry. He was a Paw-Paw to his grandchildren, including Anthony, Joseph, Ezra, Everly, Jane, Emily, Dylan, Perry, Jr., Sarah, Mike, Chris, and Ashlyn, and he enjoyed the company of numerous great-grandchildren. Zane is further survived by his sisters, Roxye Young and husband Steve and Shirley Samson and husband Rick, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Adams and Marion Charpentier Adams; and his brothers, Kevin Adams, Charles "Chucky" Adams, and Anthony Adams.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of his life at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow the service at Marthaville, Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include his 5 sons and his dearest friend, Robert Wilson.
Zane leaves behind a legacy of hard work, and a deep love for his family that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to all the surrounding churches that prayed for him. A special thanks to Hospice of Natchitoches for all of the love and the care they provided for him and the family.
