Wilson Enoch “W. E.” O’Bannon was born on February 15, 1938 to Ruffin Wilson O’Bannon and Mae Bell Cobb O’Bannon in Provencal, Louisiana. He passed from this life on April 5, 2022, at home in Provencal, Louisiana. W. E. was a retired log truck driver. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, carpenter and all-around woodworker. He could build anything that came to mind. He definitely loved to tinker around and build things in his shop. He enjoyed attending church at Provencal UPC, even though he didn’t get to attend much over the last couple of years due to his health. When he could still get around, he made it a habit to go to the sawmill and sit on the porch of the office and he and Larry Davis would drink a pot of coffee before most people ever rolled out of the bed. W. E. has a lifelong friend, Cliff Rachal, that when they could, they would spend time sitting and talking about anything that crossed their minds. W. E. was preceded in death was his parents, his sister, Audrey Mae “Sudie” Broadway, and his son, Earl Wayne O’Bannon. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary O’Bannon, his children, Jerry O’Bannon and his wife Candy, Bruce O’Bannon and his wife, Jan, Jeanette Jiles and her husband, Scott, and Glen O’Bannon and his wife Melissa, his step-children, Jeff Mahaffey and Mary Davis. He was also survived by his brothers and sisters, Ann Pitts, Gwedndolyn “Tootie” Davis and her husband Larry Davis, Eddie Wayne O’Bannon and his wife, Beverly O’Bannon, and Diane O’Bannon, together with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Provencal United Pentecostal Church from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on April 10, 2022. The funeral service celebrating the life of W. E. O’Bannon will be held at Provencal United Pentecostal Church at 11:00 a.m. on April 11, 2022 with Bro. Paul Grace and Bro. Buddy Boswell officiating the service. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Provencal Louisiana. Those honored to serve as pall bearers are Zachary Davis, Matthew Jiles, Marcus Jiles, Shane O’Bannon, Lynn Oxley, and Chuck Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Ebarb, Cliff Rachal and Jeff Mahaffey.
