Funeral service for Mrs. Wilma Jean Melton Gilchriest will be at 11 am Sunday, August 9, 2020, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Shugart officiating. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery in Flora, LA. The family will receive friends from 8 am until service time on the 9th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Wilma, 77 years of age and a resident of Nacogdoches, TX passed away on August 5, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born on May 29, 1943 to Margie Lou Tyler Melton and Burtrum Melton in Childers, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margie Lou Tyler Melton and Burtrum "Bud" Melton, and a brother, Hershal Ray "Bert" Melton. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Clifton Gilchriest; a sister, Evelyn Berry of Burleson, TX; her children, Anita Lynn Kay and husband Danny of Flora and Jerry Ellis Russell and wife Trish of Silsbee, TX; Clifton's children, Clifton Wayne Gilchriest of Nacogdoches, Angela Gilchriest Benton and husband Donald of Nacogdoches, TX; grandchildren, Johnny Burtrum Kay and wife Brandi, Joseph "Joey" Blake Kay and wife Kandis, Christopher Lee Dempsey, Michael Heath Dempsey, Daniel Scott Dempsey, McKenna Gilchriest, and Kaleb, Jonathan, and Logan Benton; great grandchildren, Aiden Blake Kay, Asen M. Kay, Cailynn Nicole Kay, John Conner Kay, Kinley Grace Burr, Alexandria "Allie" Lynn Dempsey, and Era Nell Dempsey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Johnny B. Kay, Joseph B. Kay, Jason K. Kay, Rayburn R. Guilliams, Aiden B. Kay, Asen M. Kay, John C. Kay, and Cailynn N. Kay.
