Wayne Place, passed away on March 6, 2026, at Christus Highland in Shreveport, Louisiana. Born on February 17, 1952, in Allen, Louisiana, Wayne's journey through life was defined by his passion for cooking and the joy he found with those around him.
With over 30 years experience in the culinary arts, Wayne was not just a chef he was an artist in the kitchen His remarkable talent as a cook brought countless family gatherings to life, as he took great delight in preparing meals that created cherished memories for his loved ones. Wayne’s culinary creations were not only about nourishment; they were expressions of love.
Outside of his culinary pursuits, Wayne enjoyed the thrilling atmosphere of Bingo Paradise, where he spent joyful hours calling out numbers and sharing laughter with friends and fellow players. These activities showcased his vibrant personality.
Wayne is survived by his sister, Freda Alford; niece, Tanya Hernandez; and nephews, Jeremy Procell, Jason Moore and Mark Tucker. He also leaves behind numerous great nieces, great nephews, and a wealth of extended family and friends who will fondly remember him. Among those who will miss him dearly is his precious "Fur Baby," Honey, who brought him great companionship and joy throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Earline Place, his sisters, Linda Weldon, Patsy Procell, and Dorothy Tucker, a niece Krystal Procell, and nephews Robbie Alford, Joey Alford, David Alford, Steve Procell and Ronnie Tucker.
A service to honor his life will be held at 10 am on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Beulah Methodist Cemetery in Marthaville, LA. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 5 pm until 9 pm at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Javier Padilla, Brandon West, Jr., Steven Brigmon, Jesse Freeman, Jason More, Tony Procell, Jeffery Mitchell, and Robbie Hendrix. Daniel Duval will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Wayne Place's legacy as a great cook and a loving family member will endure, as will the warmth of his personality and the cherished moments shared around the table. He touched many lives with his kindness, and his absence will be profoundly felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
