Wayne Gourdon

A memorial service to honor the life of Wayne Gourdon will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at his home in Goldonna located at 2240 Manny Trial Goldonna, LA. 71031. Euel Wayne Gourdon passed away on August 18, 2020 at the age of 71, at his home in Goldonna, LA with his wife and children at his side. Wayne was born in Natchitoches, La on August 7, 1949. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lizzie Johnson Gourdon. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Jane Gourdon; sons, Jessie Gourdon of West Virginia; Michael Gourdon and his wife Sarah of Goldonna; two step daughters, Michelle Wreightner and partner, Patricia Wreightner of Texarkana, Texas; brother, Johnny Gourdon and his wife Penny of Floydada, Texas; two granddaughters, Elyzabeth “Lizzie” Gourdon of Phillipsburg, Kansas, Olivia Hatley of Midlothian, Texas; two sisters, Cindy Parks and her husband Jeff of Slidell, Louisiana, and Sandra Pheirfin of Fountain, Colorado. Wayne graduated from Flomot High school in Flomot, Texas in 1967 as the class valedictorian. He proudly served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, was injured at Fire Support Base Ripcord in March of 1970, and later was awarded the Purple Heart medal. He was a certified welder and worked in the oil and gas industry for 45 years, then retired and moved home to Goldonna, Louisiana.
