Virginia M. Wilson James

Virginia M. Wilson James, better known as Deannie, was born on October 5, 1928, and passed away on August 25, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer S. James; parents, Dudley D. Wilson and Sarah Lavadah Jones Wilson; two granddaughters, Melissa P. Dowden and Amy Lynn James; a son in law, Joseph “Boney” Powell; siblings, Gladys M McCary and Earl D. Wilson. Left to mourn her loss are her children, Lane James and wife Debbie, Sam James, Myra Dowden and husband Kenneth, and Lawana Powell; as well as seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, Abby Powell, Emma Powell, Abram Nichols, Mason Broadway, Mattie Sattler, Marissa Palacios, Elizabeth Hightower, Autumn Hightower, Aidan Freeman, Grayson James, Eli James, Alyssa James, and Ryder James; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Friday, August 27, 2021 at Beulah Methodist Cemetery in Marthaville, LA under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Aidan Freeman, Micah James, Mason Broadway, Kenneth Dowden, Casey Ebert, Roger Hines, and Tony Lavespere. Over the course of her life, she faithfully donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
