Van Dale Rachal, born on November 4, 1951 in Bunkie, LA and passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026 at his residence in Flora, LA at the age of 74.

A lifelong carpenter by trade, Van Dale was known not just for his craftsmanship but also for the pride he took in building and repairing with his own hands. Van Dale’s sense of duty and service extended beyond his profession. He served honorably in the National Guard. Those who knew Van Dale would often say he marched by the beat of his own drum—never afraid to live life on his own terms, always true to himself and unwavering in his beliefs.

Among Van Dale’s proudest accomplishments was the excellent and loving care he provided to his mother, Florentine LaCaze Rachal, in her later years.

He is survived by his daughter Crystal Magee, his son David Rachal, his sister Linda Lou Rachal, his brother Kenneth Rachal and his wife Virginia, his sister-in-law Connie Rachal, as well as nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Rachal; his mother, Florentine LaCaze Rachal; his brothers, Richard “Ricky” Rachal and David Dean “D.D.” Rachal.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home, 848 Keyser Ave, Natchitoches, LA 71457, on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be held at the same location at 10:00 AM with Father Bill Gearheard officiating. Van Dale will be laid to rest at Weaver Cemetery, Flora, LA.
