Troy departed this life on January 7, 2021 at the golden age of 95. His parents were Amanda Scroggins and Monroe D. Vascocu. Troy proudly served his country during World War II in the Asian Theatre as a member of the US Army. He worked nearly 35 years for the Department of LA Highway. Troy was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the VFW and American Legion. Troy was first married to Odessa Jewel Page and they had two boys Gary and William “Bill” Vascocu. Gary and Bill were always there to help whenever work was needed to be done on the farm. Troy was preceded in death by his first wife and his grandson, William Shane Vascocu. Troy married Mayo Frantom Gallien on September 3, 1994. They enjoyed 27 years of marriage and he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In his early years he attended school in Cypress, LA. He enjoyed being outside including fishing and hunting but his favorite time was mowing his grass late in the evening. Troy shared stories about growing up and riding in a wagon to go to church on Old River as well as growing up in a time when money was scarce. Troy leaves behind his wife, sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also had one special nephew, Jerry who was his god child and the “Guy” he called when he needed help. Troy and Mayo had a special relationship with Debbie Gallien, who was attentive to their every need. He was truly blessed with so many family and friends that cared and loved him. Funeral service for Mr. Troy Vascocu will be held at 11 am Monday, January 18, 2021 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Father Marc Noel officiating. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery in Flora, LA. The family will receive friends from 9 am until service time on Monday the 18th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Reed Vascocu, Kevin Cason, Tyler Gallien, Hunter Gallien, Denver Williams, and Chris Gallien. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Gallien, Ricky Cason, Willie Flanagan, and Roy Gallien.
