Travis Lamar Alexander Jr.

Natchitoches

Funeral services for Travis Lamar Alexander Jr. 81, of Natchitoches will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Natchitoches. Visitation will be held from a 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Camp Creek Cemetery in Spearsville, LA at 4 p.m. with military honors.

Travis was preceded in death by his father Travis L. Alexander, Sr., and Alice Lurlene Hines Alexander.  He spent most of his young years in Bethany, Louisiana.  After high school he attended Louisiana Tech University, where he met the love of his life, Judy Dianne Foster.  They married in October of 1963, starting their life together in Kilgore, Texas, in the oil industry.  In the fall of 1966 Travis was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War.     

Returning to civilian life they settled in Natchitoches, LA where he opened his business Pleasure Marine.  He completed his career in paper mill construction management.  He was an avid sports fan including football (Dallas Cowboys) and baseball (NY Yankees).  His hobbies included boating, water skiing and snow skiing.  However, his greatest passion was Golf!  After retirement he golfed most every day with his favorite golfing buddies.  His favorite statement about golf was “ I play every day that ends in “Y:”

Travis was a member of First Baptist Church of Natchitoches serving on the deacon board and a faithful choir member for many years. He is survived by his faithful wife of 60 years, Dianne Alexander, his son Travis L. Alexander, III wife Anna and grandchildren Isabella, Ross, Wyatt and Fynn.  As PaPaw he adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.  He is also survived by his sister Alice Alexander Davis,  his brothers Keith Alexander, wife Marsha and Clay Alexander, wife Cindy and a host of nephews and a niece.   

Those honored to be pallbearers are Darin Davis, Kerry Aulds, Dakota Alexander, Ross Alexander, Brett Alexander and Hayden Jackson.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jerry Ferguson, Donnie Johnston, Davis Kees, Keith Ganacheaux and Johnny Pickett.   

A very special thanks to his physicians Dr. Christopher Ingram, Dr. Otis Barnum, Lagniappe Home Health and many caregivers.
