Rachal
Aug 12, 1944 — Jul 1, 2026
Tonny McGlothlin Rachal, born on August 12, 1944, to Thomas and Cora Vercher McGlothlin and departed this life on July 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Her journey through 81 years was marked by steadfast devotion to both her faith and her family, leaving a legacy deeply cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Tonny was the beloved wife of Daniel "Danny" Rachal, whose partnership and devotion enriched her life for many years. They were married on June 1, 1963, in Monette Ferry and shared 63 years together. They created a loving home and raised a close-knit family—a legacy further carried by her children: Jefferey Rachal, Rebecca Stagg (Ed), Carla Rachal, Danielle Moran (Tim), and James Randall Rachal. As a homemaker, Tonny dedicated herself completely to the well-being and happiness of her husband and children. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, giving her the greatest joy in nurturing those she loved most.
Tonny was the daughter of Thomas McGlothlin and Cora Vercher McGlothlin, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Denais, and held dear memories of her late sisters Neva Crysler, Avena Rachal, Jannie Rachal, Geneva Bienvenu, and Jean Doerge. Throughout her life, Tonny's relationships with family—both living and departed—remained a source of strength and inspiration.
Beyond her role as a loving wife, mother, and sister, Tonny demonstrated an exceptional work ethic across several respected local establishments. Her professional journey included roles at L. H. Johnson Wholesale, Natchitoches Cable TV, City Bank, the Louisiana Parochial Retirement System, and Roy O. Martin. Ultimately, she concluded her working years with dedication and pride in her retirement from Wal-Mart. Through her various positions, she touched the lives of co-workers and patrons alike, always carrying herself with dignity and care.
A devout Catholic, Tonny's faith served as the foundation of her character and daily life. She was an active member of The Catholic Daughters and consistently embodied the virtues of kindness, generosity, and humble service that defined her faith. Her spiritual devotion was evident in all aspects of her life and will be remembered by friends, family, and her faith community.
Tonny embraced life’s simple pleasures, cherishing meaningful moments with loved ones. She especially enjoyed playing bingo—a pastime that brought her joy and camaraderie with friends and family. Those who knew her recall this simple pleasure among many that highlighted her warm and approachable nature.
As we remember Tonny McGlothlin Rachal, we are grateful for the example she set through her deep love for her family, her faithfulness, and her hard work. The memories she created and the values she upheld endure in the hearts of all who loved her. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her legacy continues to inspire.
