Shirley Marie Haskins

A funeral service for Shirley Haskins will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2023 in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Charlotte Birdwell officiating.  Burial will follow at Marthaville Cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 2:00pm for a visitation.  Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Brandon Miller, Kaghan Miller, Seth Potter, Caden Miller, Paul Waldrup, and James Daniels.

Shirley was born on June 5, 1956 in Pleasant Hill, LA and passed away on August 2, 2023 in Shreveport, LA.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Bartlette Haskins, Jr. and Ollie Mae Durr Haskins.  Shirley is survived by her two sons, Troy Miller and his wife Tiffany and Trent Miller; her daughter, Tori Miller; her grandchildren, Brandon Miller, MaKynli Miller, Kaghan Miller, Seth Potter, and Caden Miller; her sister, Faye Jenkins; numerous extended family and friends; and special friends Charlotte and Coy Birdwell.

Shirley was a one-of-a-kind, unique soul.  She was a firecracker and never met a stranger.  She loved animals, having two cats at home; and she loved little children and the older generation. Her best times were sitting around and visiting with family and friends. She could sit there and talk for hours.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Shirley’s name.
