A funeral service for Ronald “Ronnie” David Vascocu will be held at 11 am on Saturday October 16, 2021 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Rev. Jose Pallipurath officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Weaver Cemetery in Flora, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Friday October 15, 2021 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 6:30 pm on October 15, 2021 in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis. Ronnie, 72 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away October 12, 2021 in Shreveport, LA. He was born on May 24, 1949 to David Vascocu and Ura Jane Gallien Vascocu in Natchitoches. Ronnie proudly served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran serving from 1969 to 1971. He was very proud of his patriotic service to his country. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Natchitoches where he learned to be a butcher under Jimmy Long at Dixie Dandy. Later he became a route salesman for Tom’s and Frito-Lay. He was always a hard worker and an excellent provider for his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting with friends and family, especially his brother-in-law, Lynn Bennett. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and PaPa. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Yvonne Bennett Vascocu; his children, Kimberly Vascocu Jarrett and husband Lance and Dwayne Vascocu and wife Katie; grandchildren, Kelsi Jarrett, Zach Vascocu, Karsyn Vasocu, Dylan Vascocu, Brooke Vascocu and Oivia Nowlin; sisters, Gwen Banes and Evelyn Bennett and husband Beryl. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ura Vascocu and sisters, Faye Greer and Sue Blanchard. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Zach Vascocu, Dylan Vascocu, Louis “Cookie” Rachal Jr., Dustin Bennett, Tyler Bennett, and Kyle Rachal. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Chris Ingram and Frank Aviles. The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr. Mary Long, Dr. Christopher Ingram, Frank Aviles, Natchitoches Wound Care Staff and the staff at Louisiana Extended Care for all the great care they have provided to Ronnie during such a difficult time.
