Robert Gerald Martin

Robert Gerald Martin was born in Hutton, LA on July 3, 1935, to Robert L. and Beulah Martin.  He grew up in Natchitoches and graduated from Natchitoches High School.  He attended Northwestern State University but before graduating, he joined the United States Navy.  After his tenure, he returned to Natchitoches and graduated from NSU and began his career in business, where he retired as the Vice President and CEO of First Federal Savings and Loan of Natchitoches.  Robert was an active member of First Baptist Church of Natchitoches. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lois Conlay Martin; children, Denis Martin, Terry Martin, Glenn Martin, Jonise Rachal, Brenda Garlington, Glenda LaCaze (Riley), and Karen McKinney (Lee); and a brother, John Earl Martin (Louise).  He was blessed to be “Paw-Paw Robert” to his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which he greatly adored.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Beulah Martin. A service to honor his life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Mitchell officiating.  Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches.  The family will receive friends from 12 pm until service time on February 9th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches.
