Obituary

Robert “Bobby” Harvey Gibson passed away on July 11, 2026 at his home in Coldwater (Hagewood), LA following a short illness. His death leaves a massive hole in our hearts. He was 92 ½ years old.

Born January 7, 1934 to Joseph Andrew and Annie Marie Ringer Gibson in Provencal, LA, Bobby was raised on the Robeline side of Spanish Lake. He graduated from Robeline High School in 1952, one of only three boys to graduate that year.

Bobby married his sweetheart, Billie Louise Gass, on January 31, 1954. They had three daughters, Tammy, Judy, and Christy.

Employed as a Telephone Installer/Repairman by Bell Telephone, Bobby worked in the Natchitoches area until being drafted into the Army. Bobby served in Korea as a radioman from 1955 to 1957. Upon his separation from service, Bobby worked out of the Natchitoches, Alexandria, and again in the Natchitoches area offices of the Bell system. He retired from South Central Bell in 1993, after 41years of service.

Upon his retirement, Bobby devoted himself to taking care of his home and acreage in Coldwater, maintaining 40 acres of pasture and woodlands. For many years he walked the fenceline daily. He “piddled” in the barn most every day, repairing and maintaining everything on the home place.

One of his passions was repairing and maintaining his collection of tractors and equipment. John Deere tractors held a special place in his heart and he restored a John Deere MT to its former glory with the help of his son-in-law, Greg Lloid.

This wonderful, caring, talented man will be missed by his wife of 72 years, Billie, daughter, Tammy Suzanne Gibson Lloid, granddaughter Alyssa Jane Lloid Ramstad (Daniel Russel Ramstad), and nephew/bonus Wally Manuel. Orvile Bynog and his son Orville, Jr. were his special buddies.

Bobby is survived by his sister, Martha Gibson Beckwith of Woodbury, Minnesota. Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph Andrew and Annie Marie Ringer Gibson, daughters Christy Dianne Gibson and Judy Lynn Gibson Kavanagh, and son-in law Gregory Lloid. Also preceding him in death were brothers Andrew Gibson, Aubry Gibson, Chester Gibson, Walter Gibson, and sisters Annie Mabel Gibson Easley and Ruthie Gibson Cross.

Special thanks to Dr. Sayed Rizvi and his wonderful nurse, Krystal Miller, for their years of care for Bobby and his wife. Thank you to Dr. F. Fabian Sendra for his special care and concern. Thanks also to the staff at Cabrini Hospital units 2 North and 3 North for their care. Many thanks to Kimberly McVan and Ida McVan for their loving care of Bobby during his last days. Allegiance Home Health and Hospice provided exceptional assistance to the family during Bobby’s illness.

Bobby requested that a private graveside service be held at Coldwater Baptist Church Cemetery, Hagewood, LA. Military honors will accompany remarks by Brother Ronnie Sandifer. Interment to follow at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Coldwater Baptist Church Cemetery Fund (Attn: Marla, 6558 Hwy 6, Natchitoches, LA 71457) or the charity of your choice.

Rest easy, my love. Love you forever. Billie
