Richard (Rick) Charles Nunnery

June 18, 1962 — December 10, 2021

Richard Charles Nunnery, widely and affectionately known as “Rick” or “Ricky” to his family and friends, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, December 10, 2021 surrounded by his wife and family after a brief illness. He was 59 years young. Rick was born June 18, 1962 in Cocoa Beach, FL to Robert and Carolyn Nunnery. Rick grew up in a military family, as his father made a career in the United States Air Force. Rick experienced living in many different places some of which included California, Hawaii, Bermuda and Turkey. When his father retired, they settled down in Tewksbury, MA. Rick played for the high school football team and made many life-long friends. After graduating from Tewksbury High School, he worked for the Tewksbury State Hospital. He then relocated to Houston, TX and became a Deputy Sheriff for Harris County for 16 and half years. While living in Texas he meets the love of his life and best friend Lisa. They went on to marry in 1991 and spent 30 wonderful years together. Rick and Lisa moved to Chicago in 2001 and together owned and operated several thrift stores. Rick was a devout catholic and parishioner of St James Roman Catholic Church. Rick’s life was enriched by his faith in God. One of Rick’s favorite past times was playing golf. He recently purchased a new golf cart which he referred to as “pure luxury”. He also enjoyed boating, and traveling all over Europe with his wife and family. Rick found happiness in giving back to the community through the Catholic church where he volunteered his time weekly providing food to those in need. Rick loved most of all spending time with his wife, family and friends and always made sure everyone was enjoying themselves. He was a selfless and giving man. In 2021 Rick and Lisa followed their dreams and relocated to Lisa’s hometown of Natchitoches, LA. Rick was overjoyed to be living in the country and close to Lisa’s parents Richard and Edwina Ferrer-Westrop. Rick was predeceased by his father Robert Earl Nunnery and mother Carolyn Nunnery. He is survived by his loving wife Lisa Nunnery. His brothers Bobby Nunnery and wife Nancy of Richmond, TX, Danny Nunnery and wife Krystle of Katy, TX, sister Sharon Brewster and husband Bill of Pelham, NH, and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
