Richard Leonard Adkins

Natchitoches

Richard L. “Dicky” Adkins of Natchitoches passed away at his residence at the age of 75 on Tuesday, April 14, after a battle with cancer. Throughout his lifetime Dicky was an oil surveyor and draftsman. He enjoyed coaching youth baseball and loved the outdoors. Dicky was an accomplished blues musician who played throughout the region.

He was preceded in death by his father, C. R. “Rudy” Adkins, his son-in-law, Lindon Davis, and his brother-in-law, Torn Roy.

So many people are left to cherish his memory. Among them are his wife, Nancy Thomas Adkins; daughters, Lisa Adkins Davis and Kacy Adkins Johnson and her husband, Chris; his mother, Beverly Adkins; sister, Gwon Roy; and his brothers, Bubba Adkins and wife, Donna, Tommy Adkins, and Mike Adkins and his wife Kim; his grandchildren, Jake McClain, Kaly McClain, Colby Johnson, Logan Davis, and Leighton Davis.

A memorial service will be held at the First Methodist Church in Natchitoches at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 20, 2026. A visitation will be held from 10:00 until time of service. Burial will be at a later date.
