Mrs. Penny Ivey was born on October 8, 1947 in Hammond, Louisiana and passed away on October 22, 2021 in West Monroe, La. after a brief illness. A memorial service to honor her life will be held at Westside Baptist Church in Natchitoches on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11:00 am with Dr. Carroll Marr officiating. Penny was a dedicated mother who treasured her time spent with her children. Embracing her role as “Mamaw” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was one of the greatest joys that she experienced. She had an infectious personality, never meeting a stranger. Her legacy was all about service to others, outreach through her Christian walk, and devoting her time helping others through countless acts of kindness and selflessness. She was always available to help someone in need no matter the distance or sacrifice. “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 , was her motto. Penny will be dearly missed by her family and countless friends she massed throughout her life. Penny is survived by her children Jason Ivey (Christi), Teri Ivey, and Christi Ivey (Wayne Cook); her mother Louise Lee; grandchildren Scott Ivey (Christina), Jacob Ivey, James Ivey, Chloe Lindsey (Dewayne), Dakota Ivey (Michele), Cheyenne Henderson (Tristan), Gus Vickers, Skylar Gehring, and April Chester(Tyler); and 13 great-grandchildren. Penny is preceded in death by her husband, Les Ivey; father, Leroy Lee,Sr.; brother , Leroy Lee,Jr.; sister, Sharon Wagner; and father and mother-in-law, EJ and Idell Ivey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Christmas Child or to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.
