Peggy Duke Williams, retired speech therapist, passed away on June 28, 2025, after a brief struggle with cancer.
Peggy was born on July 7, 1938 in Bastrop, Louisiana to Orville and Mable Scarborough of Marian and Linville, LA, respectively. She was the oldest of two (Pete Duke).
Peggy was raised and schooled in Natchitoches, LA. Peggy completed her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and received her Master’s degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She was married to Walter Payten Williams on June 4, 1959. They celebrated 63 years together and they had three children, a daughter, the oldest (Mary Kellen) and two sons (Walt and Ron).
Peggy was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Kellen, and her husband, Walter Payten Williams. Peggy is survived by her two sons, Walt, Jr. and Ron.
Peggy loved to read a wide variety of books, go to the movies, and enjoyed educational programs. One of her favorite pastimes was playing Mahjong with her friends. She was an absolute true delight to be around. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches.
Peggy will be buried next to Walter Payten Williams, in a military cemetery in Keithville, LA. The family will have a small, private funeral service.
