Orena Genevieve (Beaudion) Christophe

Orena Genevieve Beaudion Christophe, 90 years of age and a resident of Natchez, LA, passed away on April 1, 2020, with her family by her side. She was born on January 26, 1930, to Alcide Beaudion, Sr. and Josephine Waites Beaudion in Cloutierville, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman F. Christophe, Jr.; a son, Bertrand J. Christophe, Sr.; sisters, Susie Couty, Carrie Metoyer, Cora Kirkland, Irene Rachal, Victrine Rachal, Annie Bellow, and Cleama Metoyer; and brothers, Alcide Beaudion, Jr., Rano Beaudion, Kellie Beaudion, John T. Beaudion, Sam Beaudion, Walter Beaudion, and Edward Beaudion. Orena was a loyal parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was active in the Christian Mothers’ Society. She worked for many years in the lunchroom at St. Mary’s Catholic School and also held many other jobs to help with being a great provider for her family. She freely gave of her time and assisted the Nuns in putting together Christmas baskets for less fortunate children. During her free time, she enjoyed creating quilts with the other Lady Quilters at St. Augustine. Orena loved to cook and was well known for her meat pies and hot tamales. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Martha C. Jones (Jerry), Herman Christophe (Rosetta), Kenneth Christophe, Sr. (Brenda), Danny Christophe, Samuel Christophe, Sr. (Anastasia), and Michael Christophe, Sr. (Michele); two brothers, Victor Beaudion, Sr. and James S. Beaudion. She was blessed with 27 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Due to the recent health concerns and the restrictions in accordance with limited gatherings, a graveside service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at St. Augustine Catholic Church Cemetery. A Mass will be scheduled at a later date once restrictions on gatherings are lifted.
