A service to celebrate the life of Nova Ruth Rachal will be held on Friday April 8, 2022 at Provencal Free Methodist Church in Provencal, La with Reverend Jim Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends at Provencal Free Methodist Church from 10 AM until service time at 2 PM. Interment will follow at Weaver Cemetery in Flora, La. Ruth was a born-on August 28, 1938 to Culver and Mary Alice Murray in Pleasant Hill, La. She passed away on April 5, 2022 at her son’s home in LaPorte, Tx with her family by her side. In 1960 Ruth graduated from Northwestern State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and later went on to receive her Master's Degree. She was an Assistant Professor of the Associates Nursing program at Northwestern State University. She had a love of caring for patients and teaching new students entering the nursing program. She entered retirement in 2010. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with family, her dog DoDo, garage selling, and crossword puzzles. She is proceeded in death by her parents Culver and Mary Alice Murray. One sister Lilly Mae Shoemaker, daughter Sherry Shegura, her granddaughter Jessica Rachal, and her great granddaughter Aamiyah Lashai Rambin Rachal and by her two nieces Linda Villar and Sandra Villar. She is survived by two sisters Edna Collins of Natchitoches and Barbara Villar of St. Amant, La. Her children, Thomas Rachal of LaPorte, Tx, Jeffery and Dawn Rachal of Provencal, La, Jennifer Davis and Edward Elkins of Spanish Lake, La., Grandchildren Michael Rachal, Nikki Rachal and Codie Fleming, Alton Rachal II, Wayne Rachal and Anna Rachal, Cassie Davis, Caden Davis. Great-grandchildren Cheyenne Martin, Daniel Rachal, Charlotte Fleming, Ben Fleming, and Luke Rachal, Dominic Rachal, Harmony Rachal, John Jackson Rachal, Thomas Ramon Rachal. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Wayne Rachal, Codie Fleming, Rick Caldwell, Dewayne Chelette, Nicky Flores, and Robert Davis
