Norma Faye Sullivan

Norma Faye Sullivan, 82 years of age, passed away on November 2, 2021 in Natchitoches. She was born on September 16, 1939 to Arthur William Byrd and Gladys Thurman Byrd in Modesto, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elton Sullivan; a daughter, Charlotte Teresa McDowell Townsend; and a sister, Donia Sullivan and her husband Charles. She is survived by her children, Wyn McDowell and wife Renee of Natcitoches and Florence West and husband David of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Trey McDowell of Natchitoches, Raven Coleman and husband Jeff of Hooks, TX, Mary Funderburk of Mesa, AZ, Sarah Yeldel and husband Zach of Texarkana, TX; Michael West and Christopher West both of Cleveland, TN and Alyssa Martin of Tucson, AZ; great grandchildren, Alexis and Tyler Coleman of Hooks, TX; a nephew, Chuck Sullivan of Campti; and a niece Darlene Messick of Campti. Norma dedicated her life to caring for those that were less fortunate. She spent many years at Tanglewood Nursing Home in Texarkana, TX working as a medication nurse for the elderly. She also was a home health care giver for families in the north Louisiana area as well as being Captain of Guards at Trus Joist. During her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, creating floral arrangements, sewing and decorating her home. She especially enjoyed visiting shut-ins and preparing meals for those who were unable to cook for themselves. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her. The family wishes to thank Dr. Bryan Picou, Sr., Dr. Bryan Picou, Jr., and the staff at LA Extended Care Hospital of Natchitoches for all of their compassionate care. As well as all the family and friends, especially the family of the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Department for all the prayers and words of comfort during such a difficult time. May God bless each of you in a special way. A private family service to celebrate her life will be held at a future date at Ramah Cemetery near Ashland, LA.
