Nita Ann Perot Maggio, age 84, of Natchitoches, LA passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception with Very Rev. Irion St. Romain celebrating. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Mrs. Maggio was born December 5, 1939, to Mr. Joseph Charles Perot, Sr. and Mrs. Lillian Futrell Perot. She was a native and lifelong resident of Natchitoches, LA. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1956. She met Henry Vincent Maggio while she was working at the Cane Theater in Natchitoches. They were wed on May 13, 1961, and together they owned and managed Maggio’s Package Store for over 40 years. She was a devout member of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Woodmenlife Fraternal Organization, Natchitoches Genealogy and Historical Association, Lesche Club, Natchitoches Canasta Club, North Louisiana Historical Association, and St. Mary’s Catholic School Board. Nita loved to travel. She made several international trips including visits to The Holy Land, Italy, Egypt, China and Russia. Many of these trips were made with her sister-in-laws Mary Maggio Willis and Sadie Maggio Dark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Charles Perot, Sr. and Lillian Futrell Perot; brother, Joseph “Joe” Charles Perot, Jr.; and sister, Lillian “Leola” Perot Walmsley.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Henry Vincent “Buddy” Maggio, Sr.; three children, Henry Vincent Maggio, Jr. and his wife, Janna, Joseph Christopher Maggio and his wife Jennifer, and Mary Carmella Maggio McCart and her husband Jon; one sister, Anna Peske (Frank) of Shreveport; nine grandchildren, Mary Beth Maggio (Ben Dempe), Henry Vincent Maggio, III (Elizabeth), Sam Maggio, Joe Maggio, Melanie Maggio, Scott Maggio (Mary-Katherine), Emily Maggio, Garrett McCart and Mason McCart; one great granddaughter, Magnolia Anne Maggio, sister-in-law, Carolyn Perot, brother-in-law, John Maggio (Billie) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Vincent Maggio, Sam Maggio, Joe Maggio, Scott Maggio, Garrett McCart, and Mason McCart; and her nephews Ricky Walmsley, J. Hammond Perot and Jimmy Gunter.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Mary’s Catholic School or a charity of your choice.

The family expresses their deep appreciation to Dr. Kathleen Kautz, Dr. Alfred Ajise, the nurses, doctors, and personnel at The Courtyard of Natchitoches, Fresenius Kidney Care, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and other regional hospitals for their compassionate, high-caliber care and sitter Becky Brister.
