Our beloved matriarch, Nellie Marie Davis, 84, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born to Johnny and Leola Davis on September 2, 1941 in Natchitoches, Louisiana, her life was shaped by strong values of faith and family. She lived these values every day and passed them on to 4 generations of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren each of whom were blessed to live in her circle of love.
Nellie was a woman with many names and titles. Known most of her life as Nell she also affectionately responded to Mother, Mom, Mama Nell, Aunt Nell, and Momo. She was at her best when surrounded by family whether that be at holiday gatherings, birthday celebrations, or on the sidelines watching her grandchildren participate in sports. When she wasn’t spending time with loved ones she adored being in her “little house” which was filled with keepsakes and memories collected over the years, each one telling a story of the loved and laughter shared within its walls.
Nell was also a fan of shopping and eating out, especially when the meal involved fried food or burgers. Most importantly, no matter the activity, Nell’s greatest joy was that she was never alone. She was always surrounded by the support and love that she inspired in others.
Prior to retiring and moving to Boerne, Texas Nell worked at Sunbeam Appliance in Coushatta, Louisiana as an accountant. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and proudly belonged to the Caddo Adais Native American Tribe, holding close her cultural roots and spiritual heritage.
Nell is survived by her children: Tim Severance, Jill Brown, Ray Barbo, John Barbo, Tina Kazen, and her little dog Lucy; her brothers: Andrew Davis, and Isadore Davis, and a large, loving family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other chosen family members. She is preceded in death by her parents Johnny and Leola Davis; her children: Chuck Severance, James Severance, David Barbo, and Sonya Campbell; her sisters: Eloise Wheeler, Pearl Etie, Lucy Flores, Charlotte French, and Johnnie Bass; and her brothers: Julius Davis and Sunny Davis.
The heart of our family is gone and our lives are forever changed but our love for her remains eternal.
