Nelda Faye Tyler Tolar

March 11, 1934 — April 20, 2020

Mrs. Nelda Faye Tyler Tolar, 86, went to be with her Lord on Monday, April 20, 2020, at the Courtyard of Natchitoches after a lengthy illness. Due to the pandemic a memorial service will be held at a later date at the First Baptist Church of Natchitoches. Nelda was a native of Chestnut, LA and resided in Natchitoches since 1958. She was a faithful, devoted and loving wife for 68 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was active in the Adult Choir, the Couples Too Sunday School class, and served as a preschool and children's volunteer for many years. She loved her family, her church, her home, hummingbirds and other wildlife, football, singing, and classic country and popular music. She was a loyal fan of the New Orleans Saints since the team’s beginning. Her family appreciated her cooking, especially her famous biscuits. Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Mertie Godwin Tyler, and brothers, Eldon Ray Tyler and Tracy Cole Tyler. She is survived by her husband, Edward Earl Tolar; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Earl and Brenda Goodwill Tolar of Minden; daughter, Sonja Tolar Popovich of Natchitoches, and son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Paul and Charlotte Olson Tolar of Huntsville, Alabama. She and her husband were blessed with 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to First Baptist Church. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the members of First Baptist Church and the nursing staff of the Courtyard of Natchitoches. Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know. John 14: 1-3
