Myrtis Vonell Beasley Parker

Myrtis Vonell (Beasley) Parker, 76, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024, in her home in Lotus, LA surrounded by her family. 

Vonell was born in Natchitoches, LA on November 5, 1947.   Born to Henry Carmen and Lois Beasley. Vonnie, as she was known to her friends, and Aane by her grandchildren lived a full and active life. She lived in Provencal and Lotus, LA. She relished her father’s service to the conservation of wildlife as a wonderful educational experience. 

Vonell graduated from Provencal High School, in Provencal, LA in 1965, one week later marrying her high school sweetheart. In the coming years, Vonell attended and graduated from the Cosmetology School of Natchitoches upon graduating she opened Vonell’s Beauty Shop. In 1992, Vonell started a new chapter in her life, becoming the owner and operator of Lotus Farms.   She enjoyed nature walks, metal detecting, caring for orphaned wildlife, riding horses, and feeding the Community.   Her home was always open to friends and family for a hot meal or a cup of coffee. 

She is survived by her daughter, Stacey and her husband Thomas Porter of Pensacola, FL, son, Rance Parker and his wife Michelle of Provencal, LA, grandchildren, John-Wesley Hoare, William Oare (Kara) and Brianna Parker as well as one great grandchild, Mia Oare. She is also survived by four siblings, Barbara Walker (Zane), Henry Beasley (Sandy), Kerry Trahan, and Myra McGee (Ricky) and companion, Terry Taylor. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carmen and Lois Beasley, stepmother, Eva Lee Beasley, husband, William (Buddy) Parker, four siblings Clarence Howard Beasley, Sallie Broadway, Francine Kay and Judy Walker. 

Visitation for Vonell and family will be held at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home on 14 May 2024 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and funeral service will be held at New Hope Church of Provencal, 140 Bellwood Street, Provencal, LA at 10:00 am on 15 May 2024 with Pastor Tony Moran officiating with procession to Beasley Cemetery to follow.  The family asks that any monetary donations to be made to New Hope Church of Provencal.
