Mike West

March 1, 1951 — June 15, 2021

Jerry Michael West, age 70, passed away peacefully at home in Lafayette, LA on June 15, 2021. Mike was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana on March 1, 1951, the son of Jo and Jerry West. He was a graduate of Natchitoches High School and Northwestern State University. Afterwards he proudly served in the U.S. Army. Most of Mike’s professional career was spent as catastrophic claims adjuster, often traveling all over the country and never meeting a stranger. A lover of sports, he played golf and was named to the All Army Softball Team at the national tournament. Later he became an avid fan of the Ragin Cajuns softball team, often traveling to the games. Mike enjoyed dancing, cooking, and watching his endless library of movies. He loved his family dearly but was most proud of his two granddaughters, Maddie and Mackenzie. Mike is survived by his son, David West, his wife Nile and granddaughters Maddie and Mackenzie of Austin, Texas; his sister Debra Babb, her husband Richard of Lafayette, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jo and Jerry West, formerly of Natchitoches, LA. Honorary pall bearers will be Richard Babb, Jerry Babb, Billy West, Terry Downs, John Moore, and Keith West, Sr. A graveside only ceremony will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Memory Lawn in Natchitoches, at 10:30 with Hospice of Natchitoches Chaplain Buster Jordan officiating.
