Margaret Laura Marlin

August 14, 1954 — May 14, 2026

Marthaville, LA

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Margaret Laura Marlin, who left this world on May 14, 2026 at the age of 71.

Margaret Laura Marlin was a woman whose life was rooted in love, faith, kindness, and devotion to her family. She loved Jesus with all her heart and found great comfort and joy in her faith. She cherished attending church at Jennings Chapel, where she loved worshiping alongside her church family and singing the old church hymns that meant so much to her. Her faith guided the way she lived and cared for others every day.

She spent many years working various jobs throughout her life, always doing whatever was needed to provide for and care for those she loved. For 21 dedicated years, she worked at Walmart, proudly managing the fabric and crafts department. She enjoyed helping others and sharing her creativity with everyone around her.

Margaret found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved crocheting, cross-stitching, and putting together puzzles, creating many treasured memories and handmade gifts for family and friends. She especially enjoyed sitting on the porch watching her birds and hummingbirds, spending peaceful days fishing, and caring for the animals she dearly loved — her dogs, cats, and chickens.

She also had a generous heart for serving others and faithfully enjoyed putting together shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, helping bring joy and hope to children around the world.

Above all else, her greatest love was her family. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with those she loved, especially her grandchildren, who were truly her pride and joy. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, faith, and unconditional love.

Family meant everything to Margaret, and her love extended far beyond her immediate household. She lovingly helped raise and care for her sister’s children, Chester and Harold Durr, treating them as her own and remaining a steady source of love, guidance, and support throughout their lives. Her nurturing spirit and selfless heart touched generations of her family.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but the legacy of her faith, kindness, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Walter Marlin; her children, Melanie Marlin, Walter Marlin II, and Wanda Miller (Joe); her cherished grandchildren, Stephen Marlin and Jessica Marlin; her sister, Sharon Ainsworth (Mike); her nephews, Chester Durr Jr. (Brandy) and Harold Durr (Tina); Matthew Dahl (Emily); her nieces Amber Whitney (Chad) and Caitlin Ainsworth; her aunt Nancy Gibson; her uncle James Berry (Debbie); and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews who loved her dearly.

Pallbearers will be Walter Marlin II, Stephen Marlin, Joe Miller, Matthew Dahl, Harold Durr, Mike Ainsworth, Harold Pardee, and Chad Whitney; Honorary pallbearers will be Chester Durr Jr., James Berry, Ducan Stoker, Terrance Stoker, Harold Durr Jr., Calvin Durr, Collin Durr, Jeremiah Durr, Micheal Weeks, and Mike Sparish.
