Funeral services to honor the life of Maranda “Sugar” Evans will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral in Natchitoches, La at 11:00 am with Bro. Greg Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Emmanuel Cemetery in Chopin, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, La from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Maranda “Sugar” Kay Kerry Evans, born January 13th, 1989, to Trish Green Kerry and Jerry Kerry in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She passed away on May 6th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Maranda was a light in the darkness; she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was truly selfless and kind-hearted in every way possible, continuing this, Sugar was honored in death by donating to LOPA, helping save countless lives.

As a child Maranda loved to be involved in sports, softball, basketball, she enjoyed it all. She has always been known throughout life for her competitive nature, from playing sports as a child to playing washers with her loved ones as an adult. Sugar was also known for her inviting smile and infectious laughter. Maranda loved honey suckles, hunting, fishing, and spending days out at the “Burby”. Sugar’s favorite thing to do was sing, dance, and have a good time! She graduated from NCHS class of 2007 and attended Northwestern State University. She lived life to the fullest. Sugar met the love of her life, Chance, in 2012 and began building a life together. They welcomed their beautiful daughter, Jurnee “Toot” Dynette Evans into the world in 2013. Chance and Maranda married on June 3rd, 2017. You could often hear Maranda warning Chance, “You’re bout to be on my last nerve!” The love Maranda had for her husband, daughter, family, and friends was like no other. Maranda started her career out working at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Natchitoches, transferring to the location in Alexandria serving as hotel manager. After 14 years in the hotel industry, she went on to work for Bank of Montgomery, where she worked her way into becoming branch manager of the BOM Pineville location.

She was preceded in death by her two angel babies; her maternal grandparents, Annievee Modeal Harrison and Jewel Bee Green, and paternal grandparents, Roseva Carnahan and James Kerry. She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Chance Evans; daughter, Jurnee Evans; step son, Tristin Evans; 4 grandchildren; mother and father, Trish and Jerry Kerry; siblings, Allen Kerry; Becky Smith; Darron Kerry and wife Mary; and Angela Kerry; grandmother in law, Dorothy Delacerda; mother and father in law, Roland and Beverly Lavespere; Father in law, Tony Evans and wife Leilani; sister in laws, Hailey Lavespere; Morgan Evans; Mallory Sallie; Marian Evans; Melody Nelson; and MaKayla Evans; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Justin Basco, Ryan Basco, Justin Delacerda, Joe Kerry, Rand Kerry, Jay Coutee, Eric Dunn, and Tracy Edwards. Honorary Pallbearers Allen Kerry, Brandon Wablington, David Kerry, and Craig Puckett.
