Mabel Meyers Chambers, age 93, passed away on November 25, 2025, at her home in Cedar Park, Texas, surrounded by her family.
Mabel was born on December 5, 1931, in Marshall, Texas, to James Marshall Meyers and Anne Inez Meyers (nee Miller). She attended school in Marshall, as well as Texarkana, Texas. After graduation from Marshall High School, she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana to attend Schumpert nursing school. It was then, on a blind double date, that she met the love of her life, Leo Allen Chambers, Sr. of Natchitoches, Louisiana. They married in January of 1952 and lived in San Diego, California before Leo’s naval deployment in the Korean War. Once deployed, Mabel returned to Natchitoches. Mabel was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was the embodiment of the Prayer of Serenity. A calm and wise soul who was quick to laugh and smile and slow to anger. Her children and grandchildren could always rely on her wise counsel and her sympathetic ear. They were always proud to share her with their own friends. Her happiest times were spent with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, laughing and cooking up mischief and playing silly games. She loved Christmas, birthdays, and any opportunity to celebrate, decorate, and get together with family and friends.
She was also an accomplished woman of many talents and interests: She earned her bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Dallas, was a realtor, broker, shop owner, candle manufacturer, artist, and a volunteer at her church, St. Thomas Moore in Austin. Throughout her life, however, her primary focus was her family and faith. She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, strength, and kindness that will forever inspire us.
Mabel was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Leo Allen Chambers, Sr., her siblings Irving Marshall (Jimmy) Meyers, Marilyn Ann Lantrip, and Mary Louise (Susy) Munden.
Mabel is survived by her children: Leo Allen Chambers, Jr. of Cedar Park, TX; James Lamar (Becky) Chambers of Tyler, TX, and Anne (Tom) Alena Chambers Lynch of Cedar Park, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Austin (Maria) Chambers, of Denver, CO, Travis (McKenna) Chambers of Mead, CO, Emma Lynch of Austin, TX, and Sophia Lynch of Austin, TX. She also leaves behind her two great-granddaughters, Sasha Chambers of Denver, CO and Wren Chambers of Mead.
