Louise Megason Smith

September 14, 1931 — March 13, 2024

Marthaville

Louise Megason Smith, 92, of Marthaville, passed away on March 13, 2024 at her home in Marthaville, LA. She was born on September 14, 1931 to Marvin L. Megason, Sr. and Ethel L. Place Megason. The family will hold a memorial service at Beulah Methodist Church in Marthaville on March 23, 2024. The family will receive visitors beginning at 1 pm and a small service will be held at 2 pm. Everyone is invited to come and share in her memory.

Louise was born, raised and continued her life on Allen Beulah Road in Marthaville. This was and will forever be her home. During Louise’s life she accomplished many things: she raised three boys to be great men, kept the chicken farm running, tended to all the cattle, fixed water wells, fed her family with the gardens she grew; as well as most of the community, she helped with all of her grandchildren, and was a good friend to anyone who came in her path. While doing all these things almost all at once she still managed to make it to any events she could for her family.  She taught her children and grandchildren to always be honest and kind, no matter the situation. She was known for her hard work, sweet and humble demeanor, and the best cakes around.

Louise was very proud of her children and grandchildren and cherished anything she received from them, especially a good hug. In her later years, she still enjoyed riding her side by side to a friend’s house but her favorite thing to do was watch her cameras for what wildlife may show up. The thing her family will remember the most is she always had a good story to tell even if she was the only one that remembered it happening the way she said.

Louise is preceded in death by her husband Bryan T. Smith, Jr., son, Bryan T. Smith III, grandson, Bryan T. Smith IV (Quadro), great grandson, Abram Smith, brothers, Austin Megason, Claudie Megason, Marvin L. Megason, Jr., and Curtis E. Megason; sisters, Gladys Megason Lauw and Doris Idell Megason. She is survived by her sons, Deric Smith, wife Tammy of Natchitoches, Bruce Smith of Marthaville, siblings, Kenneth Megason, wife Pat of Natchitoches, Avis Johnson of Houston, TX. She also leaves her memory with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Our family extends their gratitude to Natchitoches Community Care and Superior Hospice for the care they gave her in her last days. She expressed how thankful she was many times during her stay and was very happy to come home.
