Louis Cheatwood, 62, passed away on November 28, 2024, in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Louis was born on November 17, 1962 in Ringgold, Louisiana to Elton and Ruby Cheatwood.
Not one for school, Louis started his career as a painter and went on to work as a painter and handy-man for many years. His early years as a painter took him to the northeast coast where he enjoyed working in the cold weather with his dear friends. Later in life Louis became a pipeliner and enjoyed every minute of it. Pipeline work took him to many beautiful places and introduced him to many good friends whom he loved dearly.
An avid outdoorsman, Louis enjoyed hunting whitetail deer more than anything. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who knew more about hunting, guns, and the woods than him. He was happiest in the woods and spent much of his free time either hunting, preparing to hunt, or thinking about hunting.
Louis's pride and joy; however, didn't lie in his trophy bucks (although be sure he was very proud of them) but in his children and grandchildren - both blood and otherwise. Throughout the years many of his kids' friends held special places in his heart, whether he coached them in softball, took them hunting, or just let them hang out at the house with the kids. Louis will be remembered for his uncanny ability to be able to hold a conversation with anyone about just about anything.
After he left the pipeline occupation you could find him at the propane shop or the pawn shop just hanging out with his friends and talking to any- and everyone who came in.
He will be dearly missed but will always be remembered by all those who knew and loved him. Louis is survived by his mother, his sister Dorothy Laurent, special aunt Hilda Brossette, daughter Lauren Smith (Jimmy), son Lucas Cheatwood (D'Shea), his daughter Emily Cheatwood, daughter Tara Shipp (Quinton), daughter Corie Allbritton (Kyle), cousin Billy Brossette, niece Kimberly Broadway (Clint), and his grandchildren Tripp Smith, Luke Wayne Cheatwood, Kaden Strickland, Lillian Shipp, and Brailey Garsee. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, James Cheatwood.
