Lorraine Martin Dorris

A memorial service to honor the life of Mrs. Lorraine Martin Dorris will be at 2 pm on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Summerfield Baptist Church near Colfax, LA. The family will receive friends from 10 am until service time on the 29th at Summerfield Baptist Church located at 171 Summerfield Road, Summerfield Community, LA 71417. Lorraine, 71 years of age and a resident of Natchitoches, passed away on February 24, 2020, in Natchitoches. She was born on December 28, 1948, to Taylor Henry Pennington and Helen Walker Pennington in Camden, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband Joseph Murrelle DuBois; 2nd husband Johnny Martin; 3rd husband Charles Gibson; sisters Dorothy Pennington and Lucille David; and brothers Harry Pennington, Harlan Pennington and Johnny Pennington. She is survived by her husband, David Dorris; daughters, Cynthia Hernandez (Tommy), Lawanda DuBois (Kevin) and Joanna DuBois; step-daughters, Pamela Freeman, LeAnne Thames, and Stephanie Richardson; sisters, Juanita Swartz (Topsy), Ruth Marter (Larry), and Catherine Gardner (Wallace); and a brother David Pennington (Hilda). She was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Joseph Keith Hernandez (April), Kenny Wayne Hernandez (Summer), Kristilyn Lorraine Hernandez, Samantha Taylor Goen, and Joaquin Luciano Baca; 3 great-grandchildren, Gunner Reed Hernandez, Dixxie Rose Hernandez and Jeremyah Joaquin Baca; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
