Leslie VanSickle Methvin was born on March 16, 1960, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and passed away on March 3, 2026, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, with her daughter, Allison, by her side.
Leslie became an aunt at the age of seven, and she grew up alongside her nieces and nephew. In her early adult life, she enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and spending time with family. When she began her family with Bob, her focus became her children, education, career, and later her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: one daughter, Allison; two sons, Chris and Kyle; her daughter‑in‑law, Rojeena; and seven grandsons—Aidan, Gavin, Riley, and Patrick Lofton; Gabriel and Oliver Methvin; and Max Methvin. She is also survived by one sister, Ginny Johnson, and many nieces and nephews. Leslie was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her son, Clint; her parents, Wallace and Florine VanSickle; her sister, Kay Wiley; and her brother, Clarke VanSickle.
Leslie was a graduate of NCHS and later Northwestern State University, where she earned her degree in education. She taught for 20 years in the Rapides and Natchitoches Parish school systems. After the passing of her husband, Bob, she left her teaching career, feeling she had lost her desire to continue in the classroom. She later worked at Keep Safe Storage in Natchitoches for several years before retiring to spend her time with her dogs, Cotton and Millie, and her grandchildren.
Many thanks are extended to the NRMC Cancer Center for the compassionate care she received over the last few years. She was deeply grateful for their smiling faces and words of encouragement each time she walked through the door, even if she grumbled.
Leslie’s life will be celebrated on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church on 2nd Street in Natchitoches, Louisiana, with visitation to be held at Blanchard‑St. Denis Funeral Home from 5–7 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Interment will follow the service at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
