Leon "Sonny" Johnson, III

A service to honor the life of Mr. Leon “Sonny” Johnson, III. will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Blanchard- St. Denis Funeral Home with Rev. Taylor Faught officiating. Burial will follow at the Bay Springs cemetery in Chopin, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Friday, January 25, 2019, at Blanchard- St. Denis Funeral Home. Leon, 72 years of age, and a resident of Mesquite, TX. passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019, at his home in the care of his loving wife. He was born on June 13, 1946, to Leon Johnson, Jr. and Neva Jean Fearn Johnson in Shreveport, LA. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was extremely honored to be a veteran. Sonny was a man of many talents and interests, photography, hunting, fishing, bike riding, cooking, and listening to music, just to name a few. He loved his family and was a devoted friend. Sonny and Sue had many pets over the past 50 years, each one held a special place in their hearts, Their last pet is a 22-year-old cat, named Charles who Sonny referred to as “Charley Charley “, Charley misses Sonny dearly. Most of all he fully believed in the birth and resurrection of our Lord and Saviuor Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents, Neva and Leon Johnson; and brother, Gary Michael Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, M. Sue LaCaze Johnson of Mesquite, TX.; sister, Diana Johnson Wright and her husband David of Siloam Springs, AR.; brother, Mark David Johnson and his wife Michele of Blanchard, LA.; 3 nephews, 4 nieces, 17 great nieces and nephews, as well as several cousins, and one step-sister, Deborah Johnson of Pascagoula, MS. He will be dearly missed by all. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Kevin Johnson, Sam Johnson, John Johnson, Pierre LaCaze, Thorn LaCaze, and Asa Williamson.
