Lenora Owen Merrell Brown

Funeral services for Mrs. Lenora Owen Merrell Brown will be held at 10 am on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Galbraith Church of God near Lena, LA. Burial will follow at Merrell Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 5 pm on Friday the 11th at Galbraith Church of God located at 3436 LA HWY 490. Lena, LA 71447. Lenora Owen Merrell Brown was born in Wagoner County, OK to James and Lois Owen. She grew up on a farm and part of her duties were hand milking 18 cows. She was a member of the Owen Family Quartet that performed on the radio. In 1955, Louisiana became her home. She did everything to help her family survive and grow. She was well known for her cooking, especially her delicious pies and desserts. She loved to play the guitar and piano and served as the pianist for Galbraith Church of God for over 35 years. She was preceded in death by husbands, Iva O. Merrell, Sr. and Eugene Brown; sons, Iva O. Merrell, Jr. and Billy H Merrell; and a step son, Kirby G. Merrell. She is survived by her sons, Nathaniel Wade Merrell (Annette), Dave Kelton Merrell (Lou Ann), and Felton James Merrell (Jennifer); 8 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Kenny Wilmore, Demetrius Holman, Jacob Merrell, William Merrell, Daniel Brooks, and Stephen Frederick. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Merrell and Jeff Jowers. In the past, flower deliveries to the church have been mistakenly delivered to the wrong address.
