A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Laney Anthony Wright will be held at 1 pm Friday, January 8, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cloutierville, LA with Rev. Christian Ogbonna serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Cloutierville, LA. The family will receive friends on the 8th from 10 am until 12 pm at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel. Laney is survived by his daughters, Shanna Neilson and her husband Brian and Sheron Kemp; grandchildren, Joseph Neilson, Sara Neilson, Lillian Kemp and Jonathan Kemp; loving companion, Connie Kersting; brothers, L.T. Wright and his wife Julie, Willie B. Wright, Jr., Johnnie E. Wright; sisters, Adlitha Bonnette, Madeline Wright, Allie Wright Metoyer and her husband Donald, Anner Wright Christopher and her husband Charles, Gloria W. Coutee, and Diana Wright; as well as the mother of his daughters, Martha Rachal Conde, and numerous nieces and nephews. Deputy Wright was a United States Army Veteran. After serving his country, he moved to Illinois for work and retired from Deluxe Business Forms after many years of service. After retirement he returned to his hometown of Cloutierville and then moving to nearby Derry, La. Deputy Laney Wright began his law enforcement career at the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office in 2000. He initially worked in a part-time capacity as a reserve deputy working patrol and as a court bailiff. In February 2013 Deputy Wright was hired full-time as a deputy sheriff assigned to the NPSO Corrections Division. Deputy Wright loved his community and his willingness to help others led him to join Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #1 as a volunteer fireman. Laney was also a skilled carpenter and assisted many people in the Natchitoches area with construction projects. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
