Kimberly Sue Nyles-Roque

December 23, 1964 — April 21, 2026

Kimberly was born on December 23, 1964 in Detroit Michigan. It wasn't until August 1, 1966 before she found a forever home with proud adoptive parents John and Sophie Nyles (Babychuck).

Her parents fostered Kim's budding interest in music, various craft activities, and surprisingly teaching. Kim fondly remembered time in the basement of their home "teaching" some of her stuffed toys. Over time Kim learned to play clarinet well and dabbled in guitar and banjo from time to time. Her crafting interests included cross stich, sewing and just about any other craft involving thread. She often passed those fiber arts skills on to others as her skills improved.

During her time in Michigan Kimberly attended Cranbrook Kingswood School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan as well as Interlochen Center for the Arts.

After working various jobs in the Midwest, Kimberly landed in Lubbock, Texas and enrolled at Texas Tech University, discovered her Catholic faith, and completed a BA in Mathematics (December 1992) During this time she met her future husband Sylvester Roque and took her first formal teaching job at Littlefield High School in Littlefield, Texas.

After a year teaching in Littlefield, Kim followed Sylvester to Natchitoches Louisiana where they were married on April 6, 1996 and remained married until her passing. They had no children of their own but often helped students in need.

Kim spent several years teaching Math and Science to ninth grade students at the Natchitoches Ninth Grade Center. Througho9ut this time she continued her education, ultimately earning a Specialist in Education degree from Northwestern State University.

Kimberly was often quite modest about the impact she had many who knew her. She might have been surprised what some of her friends thought. Upon hearing news of her death one long-time friend remarked "Kim was like a second mother to me". A second friend remarked "Kim was a wonderful lady. I loved our morning carline conversations. More than one friend is going to miss her homemade jams and jellies.

Kimberly finally lost a battle with cancer that lasted more than a year. She never lost the sense of having been blessed and thankful for the life she had been given.
