With hearts forever changed, yet trusting in God’s promise of eternal life, we share the passing of Kaylie Hughes, age 17, on March 30, 2026. She was born on April 27, 2008, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to her loving parents, Nicholas and Kylie Hughes.
From the very beginning of her journey, Kaylie faced cancer with strength and grace, inspiring all who knew her. Even in the hardest moments, her light never dimmed, reminding everyone to hold onto hope and trust in God’s plan.
Kaylie was so much more than her illness. She was a bright and beautiful soul who loved to laugh, sing, and dream. She found joy in life’s simple blessings—a favorite song, playing games, spending time with loved ones and her beloved dogs, Tank and Alani. Her smile could light up a room, and her spirit brought comfort and warmth to everyone she met.
She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Nicholas and Kylie Hughes; her brother, Ty Hughes; her grandparents, Sam Hughes, Becky Roque, and David and Kathy Rushing; her uncles, Mike (Amy) Hughes, and Kirk (Jessica) Hughes; her aunts, Melissa Coutee and A.J. Hughes; and many cousins, extended family and dear friends who became like family.
Though our hearts long for more time, we take comfort knowing Kaylie is now at peace in the presence of our Lord. Her life, though far too brief, was filled with love and purpose. She taught us to trust more deeply, love more fully, and cherish each day as a gift from God.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” – Proverbs 31:25
Kaylie leaves a legacy of faith, courage, love, and light that will never fade.
