Kathy T. Birdwell

Kathy T Birdwell, 65, of Natchitoches, LA was born on September 22, 1959 to Wilmer and Mary Tate Birdwell. Kathy went to her heavenly home on February 28, 2026.

Visitation services for Kathy T. Birdwell will be Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until service time, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Jennings Chapel in Marthaville, LA. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery in Marthaville, LA. Bro. Matthew Pagels and Bro. Joe Hendrickson will be officiating.

She is survived by her only daughter Meagan E. Carney and husband Johnny R. Carney III (Trey). Her siblings Mike Birdwell (Tonia), Brenda “LuLu” Birdwell, and Becky Kniffin (Lyle). Her two precious grandchildren, Huxton Briggs Carney and Emersyn Grayce Carney. Her nieces and nephews Misti Birdwell, Chris Birdwell (Misty), Leighton Kniffin (Charity), and numerous great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Wilmer and Mary Tate Birdwell.

Kathy worked at Sunbeam for 8 plus years, after that Kathy went to work at Marthaville Elementary School, where she retired after 30 plus years. She loved all her babies at school, and they all loved her.

She was a life long member of the Jennings Chapel Church in Marthaville, LA. Kathy was a loving friend to all, and always had a smile on her face to greet you. She also had a passion for singing at church and singing with her mother and sisters. She loved to do crafts and do paint by number on her phone, and watch her favorite TV show Friends. She was always the life of the party. She loved to travel with her brother and sister-in-law, and spend as much time as possible with family and friends.

Later in life, Kathy moved to Natchitoches to live in the East Village Apartments, where she made many friends that became her family. Her most prized possessions were her grandchildren, Huxton and Emersyn, who got lots of love and snacks at GiGi’s house. Kathy had a special bond with her son-in-law Trey, who she loved to aggravate, and he aggravated her just as much. Her favorite saying was “shut up Trey”, that was just their way of loving each other.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Leighton Kniffin, Chris Birdwell, Hal Birdwell, Weston Birdwell, Hunter Tarpley, Mark Birdwell, James Carney, and Johnny Carney, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Carney III (Trey), Huxton Carney, Ricky Wilder, Lyle Kniffin, Gary Birdwell, and Mark Sullivan.
