Kathleen Celine Prudhomme Batten

Kathleen Celine Prudhomme Batten was born December 17, 1931, in Natchez, Louisiana, to Francis Reginald Prudhomme and Louise Desiree Cloutier Prudhomme. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Natchitoches, where she was a cheerleader, was crowned May Queen and graduated with honors. She attended Northwestern State College where she received a degree in Elementary Education and where she met her husband and soulmate, John.

They owned and managed Riverside Plantation. She was a dedicated mother to her three children being very involved as a volunteer at St. Mary's during their school years. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo church in Bermuda and later a member of Immaculate Conception Church where she enjoyed singing with the 9am choir for many years. She hosted many get-togethers during the summer at her home on Cane River and joyful New Year's Eve Parties for her family, friends and their children through the years. She enjoyed traveling with John in the Air Force and on many family vacations in Florida. Later in life, she taught elementary school at Cloutierville Elementary until her retirement.

She is survived by her daughter, Becky Ann Batten-Vead, and her husband, Larry; her only grandchild, Lindsay Alexis Vead Session, and husband Colby; her sister-in-law Gwen Batten Lott and her children, Harry S. Hyams, David Hyams and Katy Hyams Lyons; and her son-in-law Johnny P. Harrison.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John T. Batten, Jr.; her daughter and son, Barbra Lynn Batten Harrison and John T. Batten III; her parents; her sister, Daisy Marguerite Prudhomme; and her great nephew, Jake Lyons.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with a rosary at 7:00. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 10:00am at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church with burial following at Memory Lawn Cemetery.

A beautiful mother, dedicated wife, and friend to all, Mom will be sorely missed by those who knew her best.
