Jules Gilcrease

Jules Gilcrease, 70 years of age, passed away on January 20, 2024 in his hometown of Natchitoches. Born on February 22, 1953, Jules lived a fulfilling life filled with love for his family and an unwavering commitment to his career. He was a man that at times could be stubborn but was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Jules dedicated many years of his life working as a truck driver, navigating the open roads with a sense of adventure and responsibility. Beyond his professional endeavors, Jules had a passion for outdoor activities. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes.  Additionally, he had an adventurous spirit and found great pleasure in riding motorcycles. The feeling of freedom as he rode through the wind was something that brought him immense joy.

Jules was preceded in death by his beloved parents Minerva and Slate Gilcrease. Though their absence left an indelible mark on his heart, they have now been reunited in eternity.

He will forever be remembered by those who survive him, including his sons James Gilcrease, Jules Gilcrease, and Chris Gilcrease. Their father's warmth and guidance has shaped their lives in profound ways, carrying with them cherished memories that will endure through generations.  Kathy Shields, Jules' sister, holds dear her brother's memory.  In addition to his immediate family members, Jules leaves behind six adoring grandchildren who brought an incredible amount of joy to his later years. He loved watching them grow and supporting them in their endeavors. Beyond his grandchildren, Jules had numerous nieces and nephews who remember him fondly.

A Memorial Service will be held to honor Jules Gilcrease's life at the Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home located at 848 Keyser Ave, Natchitoches, Louisiana, on February 3, 2024. The service will begin at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until service time at Blanchard-St. Denis.  Burial of his urn will follow the service at Weaver Cemetery in Flora, LA.
