Funeral services for Judy Arlene Penrod,76 of Natchitoches will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Vowells Mill. Visitation will be held on Monday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.
Judy was born April 3, 1950, in Natchitoches, LA. She passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, in Shreveport, LA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Lois Craig of Vowells Mill, Louisiana; one sister, Norma Jean Holland and brother-in-law George Othel Holland of Vowells Mill.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles (Corky) Penrod, Jr.; two daughters, Tracy Penrod of Vowells Mill, and Becky Salard and husband Johnny of Natchitoches; and one son Curtis Penrod and wife Elizabeth (Lizzie) of Natchitoches.
She is also survived by grandchildren: Ava Salard, Tyler Salard, Owen Penrod, Levi Penrod, and Taylor Salard and her children Oaklynn and Kenzleigh Bess.
Judy attended Northwestern State University after graduating from Provencal High School. After getting a degree from NSU, she worked on-campus at the Computer Center, then in the Biological Sciences Department. When she had her first child, she devoted her life full-time to being a mother, housewife, and caretaker for her children and other family members.
She was a member of Westside Baptist Church, where she enjoyed fellowship and Bible study with her Sunday school class, and sitting with her grandchildren and family during Sunday services. After church, lunch was always at grandma’s house, where she enjoyed cooking, playing games, and just being together. The greatest enjoyment in life was being with all her family.
Nothing we say can do justice to how wonderful a wife, mom, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend Judy was. She was a blessing to so many, a Godly example to all she encountered, and loved by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, Judy requested that donations be made to:
