Our dear daughter Judy passed away at 7:00 pm Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Natchitoches Regional Hospital. She was 63 years old. Funeral services for Judy Kavanagh will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Coldwater Cemetery in Hagewood, LA, led by Rev. Mike McGrath. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Judy was born at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria on the 26th of February, 1959. She attended Warren Easton Elementary School, graduating from Natchitoches in 1977. She later attended the Natchitoches Technical Institute and received her nursing degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Judy worked many years at the Many Nursing Home South and later at the Courtyard in Natchitoches, LA. She had a lot of compassion for her patients and became close to many. She loved flowers and always had an array of color in her yard. After the death in 2018 of her husband of 30 years, Gene Kavanagh, she developed a deep interest in genealogy and volunteered at the Natchitoches Genealogical & Historical Association weekly. She enjoyed helping people locate information about their ancestors. Judy was also a member of the local St. Denis Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and was presently serving as Regent of the chapter. Judy is survived by her parents, Robert Harvey Gibson and Billie Louise Gass Gibson; her sister Tammy Gibson Lloid and husband Gregory Lloid, of Pineville, LA; her niece, Alyssa Lloid Ramstad and husband Dan Ramstad of Coldwater/Hagewood community; step-son, Eugene Kavanagh of Many; and a special step-daughter, Margaret LaCour and her husband Larry of Natchitoches. She is fondly remembered by numerous loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Christy Diane Gibson; her maternal grandparents, William Sterling Gass and Ruby Goings Gass; paternal grandparents, Joseph Andrew Gibson, Sr. and Annie Marie Ringer Gibson. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Gregory Lloid, Dan Ramstad, Kyle Heard, Ethan Sekaly, Mark Liles, and Lynn Lyles.
