Josephine Marie Bananno Towns, 71, of Powhatan, La. Died peacefully Thursday morning, June 10 in Shreveport,La. Jo Marie died due to bladder cancer. She was born to Joe Bananno and Frances Pitslata Bananno on November 5, 1949, in New Roads, La. Jo Marie attended Powhatan School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She spent a great deal of her younger years in Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport. Jo Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Frances Bananno, her paternal grandparents, Joe and Josephine Blando Bananno, her maternal grandparents, Phillip and Katie Pecora Pitslata, her youngest brother, Guy Patrick Bananno, nephew, Joseph Dane Bananno, niece, Amanda Lee Ann Bananno, great nephew, Michael Patrick Bananno, and first cousinDonald Joseph Pitslata. She is survived by her brothers, Philip Bananno and wife Dotty of Shreveport, La., Joe and Joy Bananno of Denham Springs, La., and a sister, Katie Johnson of Natchitoches. She is also survived by many nieces and a nephew, other family members, many friends and her cat, “Minnie”. Visitation at Blanchard-St. Denis funeral home on Tuesday, June 15 from 5 pm to 9 pm. Visitation at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Powhatan, LA. Wednesday, June 16 from 10 am until time of Mass of Christian burial at 11 o’clock am with Father Thomas Paul, Celebrant. Burial will be at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, La. Reception to follow at St. Francis Catholic Church. Pallbeares will be Chris Dowden, Tom Holden, Anthony Mondello, Carlo Gulino, Jerry Hale and Lee Gulino. Jo Marie was a talented artist in which she was a charter member of the Natchitoches Art Guild. She loved cooking and feeding everyone who stopped by, even feeding the UPS and Fed-Ex guys and girls. Even though she had no children, all who came and ate at her table were her children. She was very devoted to Our Blessed Virgin Mary. Honorary pallbearers will be David Schilling, Joseph Johnson, Tony Leone, Quincy Holden, Frank Sims, Pete Leone, Roy Solice, Wayne Moore, and Richard Landry. Rest in Peace Our Sweet Angel
