John Earl Roe

August 28, 1945 — January 6, 2023

John Earl Roe, 77, of Marthaville, was born on August 28th 1945 and entered the gates of Heaven, with his family by his side on January 6th 2023.

He was preceded in death by his mother and Father, Earl and Blanch Roe. Paternal Grandparents, John and Ella Faire Roe. Maternal Grandparents, Robert and Minnie Barnhill.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Jone Roe of Marthaville. Daughter, Michelle Gullette and Jerry of Ringgold. Son, Pat Roe and Mitzi of Marthaville. Granddaughter Stormy Roden and Hayden of Sibley. Grandson, Tucker Roe and Kourtney of Robeline. Sister, Earline Mitchell of Marthaville. Last, but not the least his newest Great Granddaughter Hayslee Roden.  Along with nieces, nephews, and life-long friends who became family.

John Earl was an amazing husband, daddy, papaw, and friend. Always there to lend a helping hand, words of wisdom, or just a good laugh.  In his younger years, you could find him working in his chicken houses, playing rook with friends, riding his motorcycle, taking his kids fishing on Toledo Bend, or traveling.  As time went on, he became Papaw. His grandbabies were his pride and joy; and he cherished each moment he got to spend with them.

In 2010, John Earl sold his chicken houses and enjoyed retirement, although some say he worked more after he retired than before. He spent his time traveling, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and life-long friends.

Each prayer he would pray, he would thank God for his family.. and they too, are thankful for him, the values he instilled in them, lessons taught, and time spent with him.  He was truly, a one of a kind.

In his words "yall are gonna miss me when I'm gone." Words that couldn't ring more true at this moment.  We will miss you dearly, we rejoice in the fact that you are in Heaven, celebrating with Jesus. We find peace knowing that we will see you again one day soon.  We love you a bushel and a peck with a hug around the neck. Until we meet again.

Richard Kaufman.  All services will be held at Marthaville First Baptist Church.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10th 2023 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm.  Services will be held on Wednesday, January 11th 2023 at 1:00pm with burial following at Marthaville Cemetery.
