John Earl Martin

December 30, 1939 — February 10, 2020

John Earl Martin was born on December 30, 1939, to Robert L. and Beulah Martin.  He grew up in Natchitoches, Louisiana and graduated from Natchitoches High School and Northwestern State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics.  He worked in various fields, including serving as Chief Civil Deputy for Natchitoches Parish.  He began his own real estate appraisal business from which he retired.  John was an active member of Westside Baptist Church. After a lengthy illness, he passed away surrounded by family at Christus Highland Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana on February 10, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Louise Mitchell Martin, children Tina Long, Tammy Rushing (Dwayne), Jason Martin (Kenneth), Bradford Martin (Mary), and Melanie Thomas (Todd).   John was proud to be Paw-Paw to his twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Beulah Martin and his brother Robert Gerald Martin (Lois). A service to honor his life will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at Westside Baptist Church with Brother Steve McAlister and Brother Bruce Mitchell officiating.  Interment will follow at Fort Jesup Cemetery in Fort Jesup, Louisiana.  The family will receive friends from 12 PM until service time on February 13th at Westside Baptist Church in Natchitoches.
