Joe Teekell

A memorial service to honor the life of Joe Glen Teekell will be held at 2pm on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Freedom Life Church of Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time at the church on Monday. Joe Glen Teekell was welcomed into his eternal home, Wednesday, July 29, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born on June 1, 1953 to Charley Joe and Fay Laffitte Teekell in Shreveport, LA. Joe served as a Green Beret in the U.S. Army Special Forces during Vietnam 1972-1975. He had a long career in the oil and gas industry where he traveled all over the United States. Joe had a passion for singing and playing music, and an avid appreciation for muscle cars. He loved hunting/fishing, and riding his Harley Davidson. He had a big heart, and was always filled with love and laughter. He never met a stranger for long. Daddy loved God and his family, and lived daily by his faith. Joe is survived by his wife of 27 years, Brenda Fay Teekell; Children, Morgan Teekell of Castor, LA, Tamisin Lewis and husband Carson of Coushatta, LA, Meagan Teekell French and husband Eric of Natchitoches, la, Mallory Teekell Bordelon and husband Wade of Shreveport, LA, Joel Teekell and wife Harlea of Natchitoches, LA. Grandchildren, Cain Teekell, CJ Teekell, Sadie Hammond, Emalie Hammond, Trinitie Heyl, Taven Lewis, Mason French, Hunter French, Kaitlyn Bordelon, Madelyn Bordelon, Skyler Bordelon, Adleigh Teekell, and Elijah Teekell. Siblings: Sharon Teekell Smith and husband Ronnie of Natchitoches, LA, Cynthia Teekell Jacobs and husband Dale of Benton, LA, Charlene Teekell Locke and husband Ricky of Arlington TX, Tracy Teekell and wife Mary of Natchitoches, LA, his cherished Uncle Henry Teekell of Natchitoches, LA, and Mother-in-law Bonnie Dawson of Eugene, OR. Along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charley Joe and Fay Teekell. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Joel Teekell, Eric French, Wade Bordelon, Carson Lewis, Bill Lewis, and Grant Dowden. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Teekell, John Ellzey, Ronnie Smith, Tucky Jones, Lanny Kippes, Kevin Stanton, Ricky Locke, and Dale Jacobs. To know Joe was to love Joe. He wore a smile everywhere he went, and his laughter was contagious. He was a loving husband, father, pawpaw, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
