Jett Houston Cook

Jett Houston Cook was born in Marthaville, LA on December 5, 1919. His parents were Jett John Cook and Nellie Fleming Cook. He passed away on June 24, 2021 at the age of 101. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Sue Cook of San Antonio, TX; a granddaughter, Veronica Cook Gardner and husband D. J. Gardner of Shreveport, LA; 3 nieces, Gloria Cook and husband John Worthy of Shreveport, LA, Layna Cook Grau and husband Jim Grau of Gulf Shores, AL, and Marcia Cook Lee and husband Charles Lee of Baton Rouge, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Cook; brothers, Alva Cook, Willie Glen Cook, Truman Cook and Harold B. Cook; and a sister Evelyn Cook. He was a graduate of Marthaville High School and Nashville Diesel College. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in World War II. He was a soldier in the 4th Infantry that landed on Utah Beach on D-Day and also was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was employed by Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. for 36 years and retired as a District Supervisor. A service to honor his life will be held at 1 pm Thursday, July 1, 2021 in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery near Marthaville, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday June 30th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
